TFAS is involved in several activites which includes,
Cultural activities organized by TFAS includes,
  • Annual Events : In the form of Annual Events, TFAS celebrates Sankranthi during January, Ugadi during April and Diwali during October/November of every year, with dinner and a cultural program (In general Music, Dance, and Drama).
  • Trimurthy Day : We conduct Sangeetha Murthy Tria Dinothsavam (Trimurthy day) for Karnatic music-lovers during March.

Social activities organized by TFAS includes,
  • Family Picnic : Every year during August, TFAS organizes the Family Picnic for the Telugu people living in tri state area, to enjoy the great American outdoors.
  • New Telugus meet : By conducting the new Telugu's meet once or twice a year, TFAS provides not only orientation to the new Telugus who come to USA recently, but also helps them in fulfilling their needs at the maximum possible extent.
  • Honor Distinguished Vistiors : TFAS honors distinguished people from India, who visit USA. These people are disguished in their fields such as Arts, Science, Social works, Education, Literature etc. For complete details of people whom TFAS honored so far, please check under Awards and Recognitions.

Literary activities organized by TFAS includes,
  • Telugu Jyothi : TFAS publishes Telugu Jyothi, a bi monthly magazine with the readers in US, Canada and India. This magazine also serves as communication vehicle among the Trustees and Members. The magazine became more attractive with computerized Telugu script in 1991.
  • Short Story Competitions : In an effort to encourage the upcoming writers, we conduct short Telugu story competitions in India starting in 1984 and every year since, through Andhra Jyothi weekly. Initially, the awards were given at 250 Rupees each for 12 stories. This has improved since then. Currently the awards are given as follows:
    1st place = Rs. 5000, 2nd place = Rs. 3000 and 3rd place = Rs. 1500
    In addition, 12 consolation prizes are given for Rs. 1000 each. The money for these awards comes from voluntary contributions/donations from our TFAS members. We appreciate any contribution of $25 and up for these awards. Please donate and help the Telugu literature.

  • Swaraswatha Samoohom : For the Telugus who are living in US for more than 20 years and to make our young generation not to forget the sweetness of Telugu, at least once a month TFAS is organizing a leterary gathering - Saraswatha Samooham.
    This gathering is being conducted for the past three years under the guidence of Sri Vemuri Venkata Ramanatham. Any person who is interested in Telugu Literature may attend this free gathering. If they wish they may read their own article (poem, story, essay etc..) and share with rest of the people.
    If you wish you may bring your friends or relatives to this meet and enjoy the Telugu literature with the rest.
  • Other : TfAS contributed to the opening of the Telugu branch at the NY public library - Flushing branch.
Special activities organized by TFAS includes,
TFAS receives several requests from artists from India and the US. We try to satsify these requests to the best of our judgement and arrange programs locally. At times we conduct nationwide tours. The major factors to be considered are quality, community response, availability of auditoriums, conflicts with other programs, and finances.
