KV Rao Jyothi Rao Awards:
An award is donated annually by our Life Members Dr. K.V. Rao - Jyothi Rao to recognize an outstanding person from India as selected by the Raja Lakshmi Foundation of Madras. Other members have also donated funds towards this award.  This award is initiated in 1980 and given to the person who wins the Raja Lakshmi award.  The Raja Lakshmi award is given out by the Raja Lakshmi Foundation, Madras, annually to honor outstanding work in Science, Literature, Humanities and Indian culture.  The awardee is invited to the USA to receive the KV Rao Jyothi Rao award, given by the TFAS.  Currently the award is Rs.1 lakh and the cash value of KV Rao Jyothi Rao award is $2000.

The Raja Lakshmi Awardee has two years time (from the year fo Award) to come to the USA to receive the KV Rao - Jyothi Rao Award.   If he/she is unable to travel for any reason, the Raja Lakshmi Foundation is requested to nominate another person of "eaual caliber" in the same or different field, to come to USA to receive the K.V.Rao - Jyothi Rao award.  The recepient can tour USA if he/she wishes, can give programs/performances, if he/she so wishes and suh arrangements will be made by TFAS, time permitting.

TFAS members have been contributing to the Raja Lakshmi Literary Award since 1993. "Guruvunu Gurthinchandi" - Best Teacher award by R.K.Jonnada, is being given since 1997.
